Is it summer yet?? Plenty more live music anyway...

Last Saturday I made it to the Celtic Boys club to see a few bands on-stage, including great sets from Indianapolis and The GetDowns. Each of these 2 provided quality live music in their own different ways: Indianapolis with solid, belting anthems, and The GetDowns with raw energy and unpredictability. Talking of unpredictable, the fighting spoiled things, and I hear the PA blew up later, meaning Sunday's bonanza didn't go ahead as planned...

Live music is buzzing in Dundee as ever, eg: just take tomorrow night...

This Saturday sees the "Hair of the Dog" Bike Rally @ Doghouse . . . Peski Kings + Page 6 + The Daze @ Drouthy's . . .

Mini-festival this weekend...

I've noticed many local bands mentioning they're playing this weekend @ Celtic Boys club in Dundee - and it seems this music-fest is organised by this guy Bez.. who's posted more info about it on myspace, ie:

Saturday 12 May

The Carellos, Dave?, Indianapolis, Peski Kings, The Unknown, The GetDowns
Doors at 5.45 - £3 on the door. Over 18 only.

Sunday 13 May
The Naturals, The Joots, Michael Binnie, Blinshall, Descartes, Ergo, Dutch Courage, The Daze, Page 6, The Rise, The Carellos
Doors at 12.45 - £4 on the door. Over 18 only.

Top 5 for begininning of May: Comedy and Culture

penguin paradeThere's about 100 events listed for May already - including these wee gems in the first couple of weeks:

  1. Comedy - gags to go @ Abertay, Sue Perkins (from Mel+Sue) @ Dundee Rep, plus Mum's the word @ Whitehall Theatre (Jenny Talia was also planned @ Whitehall this week, but cancelled)
  2. Sunshine on Leith continues @ Rep
  3. Dundee Variety Club @ Reading Rooms - new music night
  4. Celtic Boys Club plays host to a mini-festival with a host of local bands - 12/13 May - a must see for any music-lover
  5. Peacocks among the ruins @ DCA - part of the Six-Cities thingie... plus more events later in the month.
Plus there's a multitude of gigs as usual, look out for Laing's beer garden, Dexters, Westport Bar, etc...
