New nightclub set for Dundee

Recently, we have noticed a lot of gossip speculating over what is to become of the old Mardi gras. A lot of people say it will be demolished, some say Fat Sams have bought it and will be use it in a big extension plan. The truth is Luminar the company that own the Mardi gras brand still have ownership over the site. As you may have noticed nothing has been done about the site in a good while.

Upon recently seeing the public notices over Christmas, its reported Luminar have just applied a for an entertainments licence. For a new nightclub at the south ward road location. The new nightclub in question will be Liquid; you may recognize the name as it is Luminar’s flagship brand with thirty of them dotted around the UK. Recently Luminar sold off two of its major brands Chicago Rock CafĂ© and Jumpin Jaks. So we can only assume they are going to be putting in as much effort as possible into their current brands, so expect Liquid to be massive in terms of events and Dundee’s club culture.

The application will go before The Dundee City Licensing Board on Thursday the 17 of January 2008 at 10am. Knowing Dundee to be covered in pubs and clubs we assume the application will be granted without fail. We will report on the clubs opening as soon as we get more information please keep checking back for details.

Pick + Mix (Music, singer, disbands, forums)

Steve Gee Miller - nice... maybe I was just in the mood for it, but sounds great, he sounds older than he looks in his photo..?

Ergo need a singer - you up for it?  Don't let them go without a voice...

What bands have disbanded in the past 12 months??  I'm about to archive the page at  music.indundee.co.uk ready for the new year  (also: UGS post)

Actually, UGS (UndergroundScene.co.uk) is well worth a mention - if you're not already aware of it - the most buzzing local music forum I've seen... and maybe some good things in the pipeline in that direction too!

Also - Dundee.com are linking our gigs page - nice
